Sri T. Sankaranarayanan Chairperson of Gandharv Kala Sangam – The Pulse of India. He is a accomplished Kathakali artist with over five decades of experience, he has captivated audiences worldwide with his mastery of traditional storytelling through dance and his deep understanding of the art form. Trained at Kerala Kalamandalam under eminent Gurus, he also possesses knowledge of Bharatanatyam and Sanskrit, enriching his scholarly and performance expertise in dramatizing epics and Puranas. Since 1975, he has been a dedicated Kathakali instructor, guiding students from diverse backgrounds, developing tailored instruction in intricate techniques, and mentoring future professionals to preserve the tradition. His international acclaim as a performer has taken him to prestigious festivals across the globe, earning him recognition for both performance and teaching.
Beyond the stage, he has made profound contributions as a scholar and academic. Associated with Visva Bharati, Santiniketan since 1978, he served in key roles including Professor, Principal, Head of Department, Examiner, Advisor, and Guide, leaving an indelible mark on the cultural and academic landscape. He has also served as a Governor Nominee, Subject Expert, Advisory Board Member, and Examiner at Rabindra Bharati University, contributing to the advancement of Indian classical arts. Even after retiring as Head of Department and Principal from Sangit Bhavan, Visva Bharati University, he continues to guide and inspire as an Examiner and BOS Member. As the Founder President and Chief Advisor of the Central Governing Board Committee of Gandharv Kala Sangam – The Pulse of India, he remains deeply committed to the preservation and promotion of India’s rich cultural heritage, rendering dedicated service to the field of Indian art and culture.
