Nrityangan – School of Dance and
Performing Arts, founded by Smt. Bandana
Guha in the early seventies, began by
training children from underprivileged
sections and presenting Rabindra dance
drama “Samanya Khoti.” Despite the
cultural challenges of the remote coal belt &
Industrial region of Asansol-Ranigunj
Durgapur, the institute steadily grew in
popularity, offering classes in classical, folk,
freestyle, and contemporary dance forms. In
2010, it came under Gandharv Kala Sangam –
The Pulse of India, enabling greater
outreach. Nrityangan regularly participates
in cultural programs, workshops, and
examinations conducted by Prachin Kala
Kendra, Chandigarh. Many former
students have become teachers, contributing
to the community and institute. Today, the
school thrives under the guidance of
eminent Gurus and local teachers
